I have a deep appreciation of color, surface, pattern and line. I also write fiction. My visual art is often informed by whatever I'm writing. Sometimes I can't choose between the mediums and instead read a lot or go outside until I clarify my intentions or simply calm down.
I think of paintings and collages as loose leaf pages of a book-in-progress. I particularly appreciate the intimate scale of hand-held, unique books and the unexpected forms a story can take when made into a 3-D object .
My work is in numerous private and public collections around the country including The Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities, Stanford University, Princeton University, Smith College, and The University of Vermont.
